AFAAS Madagascar Country Fora Hosts Successful Agroecology Experience Sharing Workshop

The Forum des Conseils Agricoles (FCA-Madagascar) the country fora for the African forum for agriculture advisory services (AFAAS) host a successful three-day national experience sharing workshop for the global programme for small-scale agroecology producers and sustainable food systems project (GP-SAEP) in Madagascar,

Giving opening remarks, Dr Lilian Lihasi the Director Extension Programmes at AFAAS, hailed Madagascar for their commitment to implement the project saying the project implementation was one that AFAAS was keen to see its achievements as a baseline for bigger programmes. “i thank our country Fora here in Madagascar for your continued commitment to ensure this project picks up, despite initial challenges am glad to see that the project is progressing well and impacting producers for sustainable food systems. This is attribute to synergies with other partners.”

Dr Lihasi further urged the project teams and trainers to focus on ensuring sustainable adoption of technologies beyond being project based.

The national experience workshop aimed to share knowledge and experiences among partners implementing the project. Partners, including AIM, CTAS, FCA, Access Agriculture, and YPARD, exchanged best practices and lessons learned from the first year of implementation.

Dr Hlami Ngwenya , the project coordinator at the global forum for agriculture advisory services (GFRAS) commended FCA and partners for their contributions. She Emphasized the project’s action learning approach, which encourages creativity and collaboration with farmers, and expressed optimism about its potential impact on the community.

GFRAAS and AFAAS is implementing an agroecology project in Uganda and Madagascar. The project part of a larger funding envelope provided by the European commission. the goal of the project is transformation of food system s towards agroecology by enabling small scale producers to strengthen their practices of agroecology, through better access to knowledge support services, improved technologies market outlets.
