- BACKGROUND:
African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) is a Continental body that brings National Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services (AEAS) providers in Africa under one umbrella. The African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) has received grant funding from the European Union funded by International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) under Grant Number: 2000002981 towards the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme ex-pillar IV (CAADP XP4) Project under the initiative “Development Smart Innovation through Research in Agriculture (DeSIRA)”. For the implementation of project activities, AFAAS will conduct procurements for goods, consulting and non-consulting services, in accordance with the IFAD Procurement Handbook and IFAD Procurement Guidelines.
The AFAAS is soliciting services of a professional graphic designer to support the secretariat in developing appealing and reader friendly infographics. The infographics will be for the design of visually compelling and informative project factsheets, policy briefs, project brochures, reports, publications, event fliers, leaflets, charts, photographs, posters, charts, photographs, posters, folders, etc and other communications products that effectively promote and communicate Organization goals under the CAADP-XP4 Project, as well as some additional Adhoc designs for various projects and programmes following AFAAS branding and graphic guidelines.
This solicitation will translate into a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) for two years’ renewable up to two additional years upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding. The selected consultant(s) will provide services as required under the framework agreement for a specific period of time at a unit price (daily rate), to be used when the Consultant’s services are needed.
- OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY:
The main objective of this work is for the graphic designer to prepare appropriate layout/design for AFAAS Printing (i.e. Books, manual, guidelines, report, newspaper, multicolor infographics, original illustration etc.) and check carefully data tables, colour combination, size, value of the indicators etc. with proper formatting of the products in accordance with AFAAS branding guidelines. Therefore, this consultant will provide graphics design services to AFAAS and its networks in addressing the aforementioned.
- DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The initial assignment is expected to start from 20th May, 2024 to 31 December, 2024, with possibility of extension up to two (2) years based on the needs
- QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE FIRM (30%)
The successful firm is required to meet the following criteria:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in graphics design and layout of information and communication materials, preferably for conferences or workshops etc.)
- Atleast 5 projects executed by the firm demonstrating data visualization, graphics design and layout of information and design of communication materials;
STAFF QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES OF STAFF (70%):
- The team leader or members should have at least a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
- Strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Creative Suits, Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDraw, Adobe After Effects, Canva, etc; relevant to perform the tasks.
- Proven experience in graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management;
- Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms; and
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and layout.
- Ability to work creatively, efficiently, and within established timelines.
- Good communication skills to understand and incorporate feedback.
- Ability to conceptualize, plan and execute innovative ideas;
- Track record of design and graphics services
- EVALUATION AND SLECTION CRITERIA
The Consultant will be evaluated according to the evaluation criteria stated in the Terms of Reference (TORs). The minimum technical score required to pass the technical evaluation shall be 70 points.
